The Long Wait

It's 11.31pm, Friday 5th, August 2011. I sit quietly in my hotel bed, here in Waldorf Hotel, Pennant Hills - room 129. Max, our second photographer, sleeps quietly some 10 doors away. My husband Matthew snores lightly beneath the covers beside me. There's a spray of bridal and photography magazines gathered around my lap, and a now luke-warm peppermint tea on my beside table. I glance across the room to my cameras. If can imagine that if they were living, breathing things, they would feel somewhat as I do right now.

Eager.

Meili is restless somewhere, no doubt giggling to herself and dreaming of Her Beautiful Tomorrow.
Sam tries to wipe the smile off his face, but he knows that somewhere, his beautiful Bride to Be is thinking of him as much as he can't stop thinking of her.

There's a hush in the air; a rush of excitement and nerves all swirl together in the storm-front of an early Spring wedding. The marriage of two people, who didn't fall in love, they rose in love. There's no sound but a sweet silence. A calm. A stillness. My skin tingles; a little twinge in my chest, and I know that soon - very soon - a couple will be united forever, and ever, and ever.

And I am so blessed, with the duty, the honour - the privilege - of photographing each and every precious moment that unravels during the next 24 hours. Every whisper, kiss, touch and smile; every tear, every longing gaze, every laugh and memory will be my responsibility to record and portray, to steal in a moment's capture and preserve for a lifetime, and into the Eternity beyond.

Sam and Meili - wherever you are, my thoughts are with you. You are truly a beautiful couple. You are beautiful together, you are beautiful individually, and you have something incredibly special between you - something that is yours and yours alone, something that no one can ever take from you. That belonging is your Love for one another.

Your day will be exactly that - your day. Should you ever forget even the tiniest detail, those memories will be there for you, every time you look through your photographs. Tomorrow will be a day, for you both, like no other. This day will live in your hearts for the rest of your lives. It will always be the most beautiful, important moment in your history together. Together, let's make beautiful memories of beautiful people, beautiful moments, a beautiful day, and a Beautiful Eternity.

Love each other. Always.
